Overview
The following document details how to use the ASR Email Messaging feature as a back-office member. This feature allows threaded messages to occur between your internal staff to either Drivers or Groups via email. It also shows how to use the native Eleos Drive Axle Messaging which is not threaded.
Messaging in Email
The employee at your company will first compose a new email. In the emailto field, write the email that hooks into the Eleos integration. This is typically [company].[name]@eleos.asr-solutions.com or [company].[name].prod@eleos.asr-solutions.com.
In the case of this example we are using the ASR Demo environment, the email would be asr.demo@eleos.asr-solutions.com as shown in the screenshot below.
Note: Check with your company or send in a question to support@asr-solutions.com if you’re unsure of what email you should use to contact drivers in your organization.
In the subject header then type the DriverID of the driver you which to message. In this example to send a message to HILSLO, type “HILSLO” into the subject header, as shown in the screenshot below.
There are also options to message all drivers, all vehicles, multiple drivers, team groups, terminals, depending on your TMS setup:
- ALLDRIVERS
Putting this in the subject header will send the message to all drivers. - ALLTRUCKS
Putting this in the subject header will send the message to all vehicles in the fleet. - DRIVER_ID1,DRIVER_ID2,DRIVER_ID3
Each Driver you wish to message with a comma separated list will message multiple drivers with the same message at once. - TEAM:LEADER_NAME or TEAM:ABBREVIATION
The prefix “TEAM:” can be appended to either the name or abbreviation of the value in the TeamLeader LabelFile associated with that TeamLeader in File Maintenance. The list is dynamic to whatever is set up there, so values will change as they are edited in System Administration. (TMW Systems) - TERM:NAME or TERM:ABBREVIATION
The above-mentioned “TEAM:” prefix works for the "TeamLeader" or "DriverManager" field, which is great for driver managers emailing all the drivers they manage. However, it is not useful for a large terminal with lots of driver managers. For that reason, the prefix “TERM:” was created.
Please note that the item in the Subject Header must be in ALLCAPS.
Once your emailto and subject header are prepared, simply type the desired message into the email body and send. Drivers using Eleos will receive the notification on their device in the Messages section of their mobile application. Know that due to in-motion locking the driver cannot send or read a message while driving, however a new message comes in as a notification and the first 250 characters will be read out loud. The driver can then hear the new message to know if they can respond later or need to pull over safely respond to the message.
When they reply it will be emailed back to the sender, as shown in the screenshot below.
Messaging in Drive Axle
To send a message to a driver in Drive Axle, go to the App Manager -> App Content -> Messages, or go directly to https://dashboard.driveaxleapp.com/#messages, and then type the desired DriverID into the search box shown in the screenshot below.
Eleos only can message Drivers in Drive Axle, and only one at a time.
