Geotab Drive - Troubleshooting

A brief guide to troubleshooting steps and issues you may encounter when using the Eleos/Geotab Two App Model.

Geotab Lockouts

If a driver gets locked out of Geotab, that user can be unlocked in MyGeotab by someone with administrative permissions by following the steps in Geotab’s article, How to Unlock a User For more information about user lockout, including lockout settings, please refer to our Knowledge Base Article, Geotab - Automatic User Creation.

New vs. Existing User

In the ASR version we can set fields for first-time Geotab Drivers versus Existing Geotab Drivers. This is a common problem we run into, where we might want some fields to be constantly synchronized to a known value (Authority, Yard Move, etc.) but others to be set initially and then managed manually per Driver (Personal Conveyance, HOS Ruleset).

Dynamic Linking

In the ASR version we control the session and employ dynamic linking, so action buttons or placards link directly to components of Geotab Drive and have them all be single sign-on. This means we can link directly to the DVIR, Roadside Inspection, HOS, Logout, and so on, giving the drivers a (hopefully) more consistent method of getting to specific screens.

In the ASR split-out, we’ve found that the best way for the driver to switch between applications is by

  1. Using the HOS placard to engage Deep Linking which enables SSO into Geotab Drive.
  2. Then using the “Return” button in to take them directly to the Eleos app.

The Home button to go back to the main screen to switch from Geotab Drive to Eleos can also be used.

Geotab Drive - Advanced Features

A brief summary of advanced features within the ASR Solutions implementation of the Eleos/Geotab Two App Model.

* Disclaimer:  Please check with your Geotab Reseller to see if your Geotab environment has specific password requirements (such as AT&T CSO). Certain password requirements like length minimums, letter casing, impacts automated provisioning done through the Geotab API which may prevent you from using integrated designs (i.e. your Geotab password will not have the ability to match the Eleos password with padding, drivers will have to adhere to the reseller database requirements for password security). *
